Future Technology

Let's start this post off with a short video.

For as long as technology has been around, we have been trying to predict where it is headed. From HAL 9000 from "2001: A Space Odyssey" to Apple's Siri, technology has always been predicted and brought to fruition. So, where is our technology going from here? AI is getting increasingly complex, so much so that I fear a Matrix kind of reality in the future. Human-machine combinations will definitely be in our future with bionic arms and augmented eyeballs for more strength and more capable sight.

What do future classrooms look like, I wonder? According to European Schoolnet's iTEC, future classrooms will involve much more collaboration spaces and a breakdown of the barriers between student and teacher and peer. "A clear majority of the students surveyed agree that there has been a positive impact on their 21stcentury skills, including problem solving, critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, independent learning and ICT skills.Students also took new roles in classes, becoming peer-tutors, peer-assessors, co-designers and even teacher trainers" The role of teachers in future classrooms is not just to teach the information, but the skills of critical thinking and 21st century skills that were mentioned in our ITEC 315 course.

What tech will be involved in these classrooms? Holograms? Virtual reality? Touch screen desks? Who can fully tell at this point? What I do know is that we have to adapt to it.
